Birds and Flowers on Tingsgrove and the Anchorage Trail~

So far behind and trying to catch up.

Some of these were taken in late April and early May.

The White-breasted Nuthatch was taken on the Anchorage Trail.

The Eastern Wood-Pewee, Least Flycatcher and Thrush were all taken across the lane~

A few Blue Buntings were at the Anchorage Park, near where I photographed the Baltimore Orioles for last weeks share~

At least 2 Great Blue Herons in Anchorage Park~

A few Canada Geese were as well~

A few Red-eared Sliders~

A female Red-winged Blackbird is busy making one trip after the other to collect insects for her growing young ones~

As I was leaving the Anchorage Trail, a male Wood Duck bid me a fond farewell.  

OK maybe not!

 He was watching over the nest box as the female took care of the young ones~

I was passing the lake for the last time on my morning walk, when a Black-crowned Heron came into my view.  

I needed to get home, but not before I got a few photos of this beauty~

Water Turtle Returning to Pond After Laying Her Eggs~

This time of year the female water turtles leave the ponds and lakes nearby to locate places they have been before to lay their precious turtle eggs.  As with sea turtles, pond turtles also have many eggs taken by cats, dogs, opossums and raccoons, to name a few creatures that dig up and eat the eggs.  This water turtle was making her way across two lanes of traffic and I picked her up and moved her in the direction that she was headed, back to her pond after she had completed her trek to deliver this years eggs...does it not look like she is pleased with herself, sure seems to be smiling, if you ask me~

All but one were Red-Earred Sliders~

My first idea yesterday was to do some birding at a nearby park.  While looking about, I came upon a stream, a really lovely stream with the sun reflecting beautifully upon the water.  I had taken a few photographs, when I noticed several water turtles basking in the sun.  All but one were Red-Earred Sliders.  It did not take too long before they noticed me and one by one hopped off of their safety logs and into the water~
