Cherish is my favorite word, and I cherish the ability of turning the routine into a beautiful moment.
Nature creates in me, a spiritual and meditative time to bring peace, harmony and balance, into an otherwise ordinary day~

Making Our Way From Kentucky to Glacier National Park~

Making our way from Kentucky to Glacier National Park...
We crossed over Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, South Dakota and Wyoming, before arriving 5 days later at Glacier in Montana.
Along the way we saw the beautiful Monarchs at the Iowa South Dakota border that we have seen every time we travel West.
That is one of our 2 dogs that travel every where we go... the youngest Silveit in the mosaic with Monarchs;)

Remember to double click on the first image, to view a larger slide show presentation after you have read the narratives~

I will be linking up with Judith for:

In South Dakota and Wyoming the scenes begin to change and then you realize you have traveled a great distance from home~

An Immature Bald Eagle gave me all of the time I wanted to taken a bunch of photographs of it.
I had hoped it might fly, but it seemed no concern for my presence and we had to get a wiggle on down the road~

A little further down the road, there was no time for stopping and I took this adult Bald Eagle's images through glass as we traveled I-90 going approximately 70 mph.
I always end up taking more this way than not and it works OK~

Prairie Dogs in South Dakota near the Badlands National Park~

Another juvenile Bald Eagle soaring, this too was taken from car, through glass~

We have finally reached Montana ;)  Big Sky Country~

We checked into our lodging and then drove over to the park for a few hours.
For the first couple of days we could not go over the Going to the Sun Highway, and Logan Pass due to the area receiving 2' of snow at higher altitudes.
You will have to wait and see if we get in later, but next week, I will share Canada images.
I hope that you have enjoyed this second set in our vacation journey shares and there will be more in coming weeks.
Have a wonderful weekend and week~

Traveling Into the Badlands National Park~

On our journey now into South Dakota, we stopped for a fuel fill up and that is where I saw the charming Ring-billed Gulls, flying above me.  We were heading for the Badlands National Park, and this was about an hour east along the Missouri River area.

Once inside the park, the first wildlife that we saw, were these friendly
Prairie Dogs.  One of the birds that I had seen flying over this land our last visit 2 years ago were Golden Eagles, that easily take Prairie Dogs, but this year, we saw none...

One of my favorites are the Bighorn Sheep and though we saw no rams this journey, we saw this small herd of ewes and  lambs.  Note the set of twins, which were way too cute!

Our German Shepherd Meaka, thought that she ruled the park, at least for a few minutes, I guess she may have;)

What Do They Have in Common...

Absolutely nothing in common, except that they all live together in harmony of nature as free roaming wild creatures in and around the Rocky Mountains.  The Prairie Dogs are really cute, however the ranchers that deal with them on a regular basis, are not so willing to accept their cuteness by any means.  Golden Eagles take plenty of them while searching for prey in the area, and yet there are always more being born to take their spot.  Note... the bottom image is just a small bit on a scale of thousands of Prairie Dog homes. The Burros are from generations past of the bloodlines back to the original pack animals that came through this area, when the west was being explored 200 years ago.  The Turkeys were just on the outskirts of the official border of the RMNP, but I incuded them since my blog is listed under birds and I thought maybe I should place some in this post.  The Mule Deer are great looking animals and I got to see them run, or rather leap, and, or bound on this past journey~
