A dream come true!!!
For many years, I had yearned to travel to view these grand trees once again. I had not seen them but two times. Once as a small child and then again at Muir Woods in 1980.
This was going to be the year to see their majesty and wonder once again.
I am so happy to be able to share these images with you, and I am going to do something that I have hardly ever done, and that is to publish two posts on the same day..;')
The Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks align with the boundaries of Yosemite National park and so I shall share them both this day.
Here is hoping that those who view one post, will take time and view the other as well, for I would appreciate it so very much!
The beauty that I tried to capture is so raw, so awe inspiring and it had so many of those take your breath away moments.
I hope that for those who have never seen these enormous trees, will enjoy them and that you will share them with others.

While you can actually walk up to and touch many of these amazing giants, the General Sherman tree is highly protected. There were always security rangers near by~

The General Sherman Tree in Sequoia National Park is the largest (by volume) tree in the world.
"Computing the volume of a standing tree is the practical equivalent of calculating the volume of an irregular cone. For purposes of volume comparison, only the trunk of a giant sequoia is measured, including the restored volume of basal fire scars. Using these accepted standards and actual field measurements taken in 1975, the volume of the Sherman Tree was calculated to be slightly over 52,500 cubic feet (1,486.6 cubic meters)."
