Right along side Cedar Waxwings at the top of my very favorite songbirds are Swallows!
Any species that even comes close to the characteristics of Swallows count as well, such as Swifts and Martins.
They are beautiful, marvelous flying machines and ever so useful.
In this series, I share Tree Swallows taken at Foxhollow Farm, and also a few of the Barn Swallows that paid an...excuse the pun...swift visit recently to a nearby lake bank.
Please forgive my tardiness in commenting on your blog posts lately.
I do get to it eventually.
My health has to come first for right now and I am resting more than normal, which my body seems to be crying out for, and I am listening.
For you mommas out there...
May you have a very beautifully, blessed Mother's Day celebration with those that you love~

Fantastic. The Martins are quite brilliant, hard to get them in focus. Good for you Mary.
ReplyDeletethe tree swallows are very handsome and slick. we see barn ones here.
ReplyDeletehappy mom's day to you, dear mary!
You got some great shots of that little blue bird. Swallows are so hard to get. They rarely sit still for a second.
ReplyDeleteMary, what a delight to see your swallows. I too appreciate them very much. One year we had a few hundred grazing the top of the pond as the mosquitos hatched. So helpful and such a sight to see. We like to see them nesting in our sheds and always leave a door open for easy access. The don't even mind all the noise and activity of shearing but blithely fly in and out and feed their babies.
ReplyDeleteA very happy Mothers' Day to you and take all the rest you need.
Swallows are beautiful and graceful! Your photos are wonderful, Mary! Great flight shots!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous shots of the swallows. They are pretty birds. Happy Mother's Day!
ReplyDeleteThe top of my list too. They always seem to be smiling :)
