Common Grackles and Autumnal Colours of Tingsgrove~

Another pretty easy week for blog sharing.  

It has been such a busy time for many reasons.  All of the leaves that you see in these images are now just about fully on the ground, and I am the chief yard keeper when it comes to the leaves, mulching, blowing, and mowing of the grass for all of the two 1/2 acres and all is done without the use of a riding machine.  

I took time each day for about an hour to do my birding and got the Common Grackles shared this week on our land along with more Cedar Waxwings that I will share in next couple of weeks and I also got some little birds, that I will share and need some help with proper ID at that time, unless I become brave and try it on my own by that time. 

Wishing you a marvelous week and I hope you have seen some of the kind of beauty that we have had with Autumnal colouration here.  It would have been even better, but we did not have good rains leading into the season~

Wild Bird Wednesday

The scenes above and below are just outside my back windows~

We have hundreds of trees on this land we call Tingsgrove and among them are Oaks as well as many other species, and below are the colours of the Fire Bushes~

Common Grackle, why do they say "common" for birds and butterflies in particular...they are so beautiful with that iridescent sheen...I love when they visit my land~

We are beginning to see signs that Autumnal leaf colour and the falling away of leaf canopy is working it's way on our land and shall soon give way to bareness around our home.  

Our two devoted friends Meaka will turn 8 in December and Silveit will be 3 in January~

Wild Bird Wednesday

A female Praying Mantis looking for a place to lay her egg sack.  It will hopefully be protected through the Winter and come Spring, some 100 or more baby Praying Mantis shall erupt from within~

Garden decos around my home and a juvenile Ruby Throated Hummingbird that needs to figure out very quickly which direction South is~

Above both Gray and Red Fox Squirrels have been hoarding nuts and below the American Robins are filling up on all sorts of berries~

Home at Tingsgrove~

I had the pleasure of attending the Ironman Triathlon this past weekend, and I was so happy that I did. What a glorious morning, the weather was cool and beautiful, the people were so friendly and it was right in my own county, within walking distance of our home... The athletes were amazing and just watching them do their thing, was so inspiring. Such dedication. 

John Boel from WAVE once again participated. 

One of the participants was 74 years young, whoosh.
"An Ironman Triathlon is one of a series of long-distance triathlon races organized by the World Triathlon Corporation (WTC) consisting of a 2.4-mile (3.86 km) swim, a 112-mile (180.25 km) bicycle ride and a marathon 26.2-mile (42.2 km) run, raced in that order and without a break. It is widely considered one of the most difficult one-day sporting events in the world."

WAVE News TV Journalist John Boel has competed a few years and I got this shot of him as he went past me.  I shared it on their WAVE NEWS site and was blessed to receive 244 likes...very nice~

I had the pleasure of meeting these two lovely ladies and stood with them the whole morning.  Maureen is on the left and Mary Jo her daughter-in-law on the right.  Mary Jo's brother Gregg (two images below) also competed and he finished the course in 11.11 hours.  Congratulations to all of the participants~

Every year like clock work, the week of October 15 is when the Cedar Waxwings begin to arrive and  I absolutely love them~

And lastly a sad ending for number two of four baby Groundhogs born across the lane.  This had been my favorite, the little runt.  I fondly had called him Rolphie.  I brought him to out land and gave him a proper burial~
