It has been a very long ten days. A couple of days were the worst pain I have personally ever endured, and that includes having had three major surgeries. Thankfully I am on the far side of the worst for now. As of this writing, I am weak, but moving in the direction of healing. Six more weeks in the physical therapy and I should be back to my old self ;) It is a long process, one that tests every emotion, and it is not fun for the kind of person like me who enjoys being outside and looking for slices of nature to share. To see the beautiful sunlight through the bedroom window, to peek out at the lovely Autumnal colours and to know that just beyond my view were hundreds of one of my favorite birds that only stop by two or three weeks, this time every year. My camera had only the 70/300 lens attached and I had no other choices when last week I thought to pull back a curtain in the bedroom and remove the screen. I sat on the seat of my walker and didn't have too long to wait, when to my great surprise came 6 and then 7 Cesar Waxwings, a couple of Yellow -Rumped Warblers and a single Northern Flicker. Between taking several photographs, I couldn't help but think about how blessed I am and this was just another sign of God's goodness shinning down to lift my spirits and to give me smiles and warmth in my heart...this time next year I will be out among them, but for this season, they came right to my window and I was ready. They have not been back since, and so I am thinking that it was perfect timing.

My husband was beginning to see my apprehension as we got closer to the hospital facility on the 20th of October. We were only a mile from the Falls of the Ohio State Park and so he drove up to the top to look around for a few minutes. It is really a very wonderful state of the art museum and the fossil beds are wonderful. We decided after out brief visit to plan a trip back as soon as I am able and tour the grounds and museum. It has been too many years since our last visit~

The park includes an interpretive center open to the public. In 1990 the Indiana state government hired Terry Chase, a well-established exhibit developer, to design the center's displays. Building started in September 1992, costing $4.9 million with a total area of 16,000 sq ft (1,500 m2).[7] The center functions as a museum with exhibits that concentrate on the natural history related to findings in the nearby fossil beds as well as the human history of the Louisville area, covering pre-settlement, early settlement, and Louisville and southern Indiana history all the way up through the 20th century.
