Lots of Little Birds to Visit Your Day~

I love when Dark-eyed Juncos come to visit for the Winter months. 
They really add something speical to the garden~

Of course you cannot go wrong with a Cardinal, or two at your bird feeders, to make a nice show~

 

 

White-throated Sparrows are another bird species, that come to Tingsgrove over Winter~

 

Carolina Wrens are always at my front door, patio door, window panes~

 

 

Of course we cannot forget the wee little Carolina, or Black-capped Chickadees. 
I never can tell the difference...can you?

 

 

I have mistakingly at times, called them Purple Finches, when they were House Finches, and vise versa. 
I am thinking that these are the House Finches~

I can hear the voice of the Eastern Towhee all year round, but they are great at hiding and so Winter is when I can see them more often than not. 
This is a female~

Funny little, cute little Tufted Titmouse...do you call more than one Titmice?  Hmmm;')

More of the beautiful and handsome male Cardinal~~

Sadly Mourning Doves are taken more than any other bird from our garden, and yard...
they are so beautiful~

And what kind of rare bird is this, you may ask...cahem a little varment...
A Gray Squirrel has made a trip to the ground and carried a large, pretty hefty Hedgeapple up into the tree. 
It had taken several over the week and ate them atop our Bat house, once he got the thing up high enough to enjoy~

 

New Red Bird Feeder...Quite the Hit~

The new red feeder is quite the new hit with the little songbirds!

The first to visit was the Carolina Wren...it is just about the first to rise every morning anyway, so this was not a total surprise to me.

Next came the Purple Finches, both female and male, though the male was on my side of the feeder.

A Tufted Titmouse also made a quick appearance.

 The Purple Finch and the American Goldfinch sort of had a stare off, before the Goldfinch was "allowed" to partake of the seed as well.

And...everyone was made happy, including me.  Have a Happy and safe weekend~

Spring has arrived when the Finches colourations change into their glorious summer colours~  This was such a lovely shade of magenta on House Finch ( five top images) as well as lovely scarlet hues of the the Purple Finch ( lower three images). Fun fact found...A group of finches has many collective nouns, including a "charm", "company", and "trembling" of finches.
