Female Taking a Break~

This little female Downy Woodpecker took a break from the cold weather she has been battling as well as the bigger boys at the feeders.  Quite a few of these present themseleves daily around the grove and they are fun to watch as they grab something they really, really like, while throwing the rest to the ground as their selections are made, flit to a near by tree, partake and then double back for more several times and then they yawn, and take a rest like this one was doing~

  1. The Downy looks so much like our smallest woodie the Lesser-spotted who spends most of its time very high up in the tree tops. Fabulous images Mary.

  3. A real little cutie that one Mary, but obviously tough as well in surviving all that snow. Aren't birds such amazing creatures and we so privileged to share part of their world?
