Who does not enjoy butterflies... For me they are one of the most amazing creatures and every year I am so grateful to have them even among the woodlands I share. There are enough garden settings, and enough of what they need to thrive, and they have truly been in high numbers this season. It seems no matter where I go, there are butterflies. Ever since I was young, one of my favorite butterflies has been the Black Swallowtail. They are truly one of the most beautiful species and their wings resemble fine lace as they flit and flutter about. I still have one that I enjoy as well and I still have never had the opportunity to photograph it. The Zebra Swallowtail is on my big wish list~
Cherish is my favorite word, and I cherish the ability of turning the routine into a beautiful moment.
Nature creates in me, a spiritual and meditative time to bring peace, harmony and balance, into an otherwise ordinary day~

Wow first that's a pure beauty this butterfly, second, the three last pictures are just wonderful! Well done Mary! What lens did you use?
ReplyDeleteHI Mary,
ReplyDeleteJust to answer your question, we will stay in France for a month, but I hope I will be able to post some message ;-)
Mary,
ReplyDeleteSo far this year we have raised 15 Black Swallowtails here and in Meg's second grade class. Been enjoying your photos a great deal!
Great macro images, some of the best i have seen on your blog! Keep on shooting ;)
ReplyDeleteLovely images again Mary. The top two especially look like stained glass windows with the contrast of the black and the colours. By the way I dont have a favourite bird but I do have favourites for each season. Right now it is Swallow but soon it may have to change.
ReplyDeleteOh, my! I popped over from Sky Watch, but these butterflies are amazing - and so are the hummingbirds!! Fantastic shots! I enjoy your photos so much!
