Since the thought first came to me that I should begin a blog of nature, wildlife, birds, my gift of photography, I felt that the name was perfect for me. You see, these Red-Shouldered Hawks are such a pleasure for me, and I search for them year round and try to keep up with them as best I can. The fact that I have also been able to lend a hand in making sure that 2 young Eyas the past 3 years made it to adulthood, only adds to me more love of these beautiful birds. For some, that may not like the thought that these must kill daily a couple of times, and even more when feeding young ones, may not enjoy them as much, but one cannot ignore their beauty. The adults are totally devoted life mates and they are even more devoted in raising their young ones. I have witnessed some pretty awful things happen with them, but I have witnessed even greater joys along with them and that is what makes it so worthwhile~ This season 3 nest attempts, loss of 7 eggs and one single Eyas is thriving at the end of it's 5th week~
Cherish is my favorite word, and I cherish the ability of turning the routine into a beautiful moment.
Nature creates in me, a spiritual and meditative time to bring peace, harmony and balance, into an otherwise ordinary day~

ReplyDeleteHappy blog anniversary.
Hi Mary,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your nice last comment.... Everything is fine, it is just that coming back to work after 1.5 months of absence is kind of hard. Work has accumulated and I barely have time to go birding or visiting blogs... I hope his is gonna calm down, but this is, at least gonna be like this for the next two weeks!!! Thanks again for your concern ;-)
I do love visiting your blog; elegant pictures. The sun in the post below does look sizzly. Beautiful though
ReplyDeleteMary, I see why you love them. How precious is this photo of the Eyas, and even more remarkable is how you have been able to monitor and record.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your first year! I can't wait to see what comes next. Enjoy your weekend, dear lady.
