The male is the more colourful of the pair, and after he was satisfied that his reflection was of no threat, he went back to tree to sing for his mate~
A pair of House Finches were having a brief conversation Friday and then without warning, the male must have seen his reflection in the glass window at front door and landed on the top brick work of porch. These images were taken through glass, yet turned out fairly well. The male is the more colourful of the pair, and after he was satisfied that his reflection was of no threat, he went back to tree to sing for his mate~

These are absolutly beautiful. A lady had given me a couple of finches years ago..a strawberry and a white one to replace it's mate. Anyway, I've never heard a song like it..just lovely and so unique. I've tried google and checked out youtube, but for some reason can't find the same finch with that song! Regina-
ReplyDeleteDang it all to heck - another nest destroyed. Last year a raccoon got into an owl nest and destroyed it. But the owls set up home again and raise two owlettes. Hopefully that will happen to your hawks.

through the glass? Wow, they came out really well! He looks quite regal perched there with the budding branches. I really love the house finch song, it's quite pretty. Great photos, love the pair together !
