Cherish is my favorite word, and I cherish the ability of turning the routine into a beautiful moment.
Nature creates in me, a spiritual and meditative time to bring peace, harmony and balance, into an otherwise ordinary day~

The Ending of Another Year~

I hope that those who celebrate Christmas, had a very wonderful time with family and friends.  My husby and myself celebrated his 69th birthday on the 18th, mine on the 21st, our 47th wedding anniversary on the 22nd and then Christmas.   The images above and just below are of my little village, town, city, that we have called home since 1978.  Can you see the train tracks coming down the middle of Main Street?  We are one of a handful of towns in the United States that still have this~

Our Christmas tree has been up since before Thanksgiving and will come down the second weekend in January by tradition~

The naughty kit cat Survhee, is actually a very good kitty, except she was eating the artificial snow off of the tree fronds of my tree~

My twin grands sang in their school's Winter concert~

Daughter Ashleigh and her husband didn't get home for the holidays but did have fun taking a young man and his mother on a dream journey to the Magic Kingdom and Disney World~

My twin sister and I turned 69 on December 21st.  I am actually two minutes older than her ;)~

Daughter Brittany treated me to a wonderful lunch of Sushi for my birthday~

The new bridge was in the background of the Captain's Quarters along the Ohio River where husby and I celebrated over a nice dinner for our 47th wedding anniversary.  The East End Bridge opened on his birthday and was renamed the Lewis and Clark Bridge that same day~

Many may remember that my father-in-law passed away back in March of last year.  His home had been a part of the family since 1962 and this past Summer our oldest daughter and her husby purchased it and have made it their home now.  It was such a treat to spend Christmas Eve with them in a home that we had celebrated many times with family in many years past~

On Christmas day we arrived to a yummy breakfast with our daughter Brittany and her little family.  Any chance to spend time with family makes everything perfect~

Svetka turned 7 months old today and she is doing really well with training sessions and learning good manners~

White-tailed Deer~

A Great Blue Heron seemed to be sliding, gliding, skating on ice the other day at Crystal Lake~

We recently drove to a nearby area of our county that we only visit once in a long while...why...well you look and see, there isn't much there, everything is falling down~

A sweet little artsy cottage en route to our daughter's home~

One of my favorite gits was a handmade cross...just beautiful.

  1. A beautiful post Mary, Wishing you and yours a Happy and Healthy New Year.

  2. I like to think of it as a beginning...not an ending :)

    beautiful shots, as always

  3. Good Morning and a happy New Year Mary. It was lovely catch up and to see your family and locality pictures today.

How lovely that your father-in-law's home continues to be part of the current family scene and into the next generation - continuity at its best.

Our year has not started too well with Ian our son-in-law falling from their roof while doing maintenance. He is in hospital for a day or two for observation after cracking his skull and hopefully full recovery. Must dash - extra baby and dog sitting for today at least.

    Best wishes.

  4. It looks like you have had a really lovely Christmas time. I really like the shots of the heron on the ice.

  5. Hello Mary, your family is beautiful. Happy belated Birthday to you and your hubby! Your dogs are so pretty. Beautiful decorations and lovely collection of photos. I wish you all the best in 2017, Happy New Year! Have a happy day and week ahead!

  6. Dear Mary,

    Happy New Year!

Lovely highlights of your beautiful family and all your holiday gatherings. Congrats on your 47th wedding anniversary, and happy birthday, once again to you and your hubby! So wonderful that your daughter and her husband were able to purchase your father-in-law's home. Your darling Svetka is looking healthy, and kudos to her for doing so well with her training.

Your village is absolutely charming and how pretty it is dressed for Christmas! I have never seen railway tracks on the main street of a town - very interesting!

Wishing you all the very best for 2017! May it be filled with good health and happiness and prosperity.

    Love and hugs,

  7. Wonderful pictures -- the old barns are different from what I've been used to seeing here, and are as wonderful in their own way as the birds and natural beauty that I think of coming here for -- you are such a good photographer.

That's really wonderful that your daughter and sil bought her grandfather's family home.
