Squabbling over Eggs and Territory Rights~

A few more from Cave Hill lakes and ponds.  The Canada Geese and the Mute Swans were having a very difficult time getting along yesterday...yep... I went back for more photographs.  There were no Canada Geese at this spot resting on any nests, and no evidence that there were any nests near by.  I saw several eggs scattered under bushes and trees and I am not certain what that was all about.  One very sad thing is that the Mute Swans had a nest a week ago and one of the grounds keepers shared with me that a man had come in and robbed the nest of eggs.  He also steels goose eggs.  No wonder the Mute Swans have become even more aggressive in their behavior toward me.  The geese were not so aggresive in my direction, but feathers kept flying with one another~

  1. Hi Mary. In this day and age I can not believe that such sad people steal bird's eggs. Its a shame the swans and geese weren't a bit more aggressive towards that person.

  5. Beautiful images Mary... The canadian goose is quite rare over here. We do only have one individual coming back year after year in a region close to Reykjavik... ANd the mute swan has never been spotted around... I love your action wings pictures a lot!
