Cherish is my favorite word, and I cherish the ability of turning the routine into a beautiful moment.
Nature creates in me, a spiritual and meditative time to bring peace, harmony and balance, into an otherwise ordinary day~

Yes, that is what they say...Towhee, and I adore them.  These images were taken during the last snow now over a week ago.  We may get more snow Monday, but have had a few delightful spring tease days.  This often happens this time of year, but we know better.  We have until nearly March ending and even beyond to experience possible snowfall.  These images are of a male Eastern Towhee, which some in my area refer to as a Rufous-sided Towhees~

  1. excellent! i love these guys too, they always make me smile :) Cute pics! There's one around our apt. that wakes me up every morning! and that's okay.

  2. Wow that's a beautiful bird and you really got nice shots of it. I wonder why we do not have any colorful warbler or passerine bird over here. Maybe because they were then too obvious on the snow in the past ;-)

  3. Mi Mary, It's good to be reaquainted with, yes I call them Rufous-sided Towhee, and all that chestnut colouring. A very smart bird and even the black is bright if you know what I mean.

  4. Towhees are beautiful birds - we usually get a few here during the summer.

    Great pictures.

  5. I like these birds. The first time I saw one was while hiking in Central Florida in spring 2006. I had never seen one before, so as soon as I got home I consulted my Audubon field guide and was able to ID it as a rufous-sided towhee. I haven't seen one since -- maybe if I lived in colder climes I would have.
