Of all of the species of Woodpeckers~

The Red-bellied Woodpeckers are one of our year round guests.  They are also the only bird that gives us quite a bit of stress.  Of all of the species of Woodpeckers that we have visit the grove, these are the only ones that deliver swift blows to our home.  Our home is a three-story contemporary, and of course the woodpeckers make the holes on the up most section, giving my husband reason to not like these birds as well as I do.  If that were not bad enough, the Gray Squirrels love to enter those holes until we can manage to get them fixed and then we stress over making certain the whole family has left before we plug them up.  A couple of times, one was still in and we had to make several attempts to fix the problem...grrrr...We have placed brightly coloured wooden snakes out, an awful looking replica of an Owl, and they still come.  I just spent too much money on 3 copper wind spinners that probably will not do much good, other than look interesting either.  The female is to me the more attractive of the two, with the gray crown, whereas the male has the red crown.
