Elegant Beauties and Their Numbers are Sadly Dwindling~
If I could count how many Monarch butterflies that I have seen this entire season, it would be less than a dozen. Over my lifetime, I have always enjoyed seeing them arrive in great numbers, but all across the US, their numbers are sadly dwindling. Explanation to this phenomenon is found on one of my previous Monarch post entries. These images were taken in a field of wildflowers known as Dipsacus laciniatus

ReplyDeleteLovey photos! I've only seen a handful of Monarchs this year as well. I spent the fall of 2004 on the Eastern Shore of Virginia tagging Monarchs, my best day numbered about 1200 of them seen!
