Cherish is my favorite word, and I cherish the ability of turning the routine into a beautiful moment.
Nature creates in me, a spiritual and meditative time to bring peace, harmony and balance, into an otherwise ordinary day~

Where Has January Gone So Swiftly~

Happy January ending, though our Winter has been extremely mild.  We have only had one snowfall and it wasn't bad at all.  For the sake of enjoyment of snow scene photography, children playing in the cold white fluff, building snow families and forts, the glee rising above the quiet, of children and adults running their sleds up and down the hills...I would love that time.  We just had 17 straight days that didn't even reach freezing.  High temperatures were also broken, one day this week we had 72' for the first time since 1906.  Well we cannot control weather, can we, or can't we... I believe in climate change, do you? A few years ago I heard on the news that Kentucky is the fastest growing weather changing state in the United States.  What kinds of things do you and your family try to do to help make a difference?
Off this Thursday for a week with daughter and her husband in sunny Florida.  Making it to airports, from terminals with a painful knee situation, and one with ear problems at times when flying, all are a little bit stressful, however I really love flying and wish I could do it more often.
Have a marvelous week, doing whatever makes you happy, follow your passions.
I shared this on Facebook yesterday...will share it here now as well.  So many emotions going on with our nation's new leadership, as well as the changes taking place in England with Brexit.  Wishing all the very best.  I lost one lifelong friend during the election process, I think it says a lot about them, not as much about me.  Each of us have a right to speak what we feel without feeling like we might offend someone, especially if we are being respectful in our language...taking things to such a personal level...no words~

Life is too short to wake up with regrets. So love the people who treat you right. Pray for the one's who don't. Believe everything happens for a reason. If you get a second chance, grab it with both hands. If it changes your life, let it. Nobody said life would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.

White-tailed Deer rests along a cold stream.
Happy Week, be blessed, stay safe~

Black Vultures taking turns to fill up on a recently road killed deer.  This happens way too often around here~

A pair of Bald Eagles have begun their seventh season on this land and we are all hopeful once again that soon young Eaglets will be growing in this wonderfully constructed nest~

Raptors, Birds of Prey are easily seen with the canopy of green missing for a few more weeks.  Many of these are first year birds~

A few cast members of red continue to hold on to their branches, making lovely rustling sounds when the wind blows~

Red Shouldered Hawks

YIKES so excited! OK so the images are rough, really rough, but the whole thing is I have been told for several years that at a certain location I visit often, has Winter Northern Harriers that hunt the fields there.  I was coming home from Bible study Sunday morning and sure enough three was a Northern Harrier, a male.  Really far from me, it didn't matter so much I was so delighted to see it~

Female Grey Squirrel has obviously gotten some handouts at a nearby park~

My new profile photo for my blog...taken following my recent 69th birthday~

  2. aww, lovely array of shots, as always.

I have a favorite...though I don't like to play favorites (the first, quiet shot of the deer with the lake background)

  3. Great set of pictures - it has taken a long time for summer to 'get going' here and people said the same in NZ.

Sorry about slow reply, blogging has taken a bit of a back seat of late.

  4. Just yesterday, a hawk I sighted, and as I walked closer and closer, the bird actually let me get within 10 feet of it as I snapped photos. I couldn't believe the 'trust' it gave me. And no, it wasn't injured [which crossed my mind] I was elated.

Anyway, love the vulture image with sunlight. And 7 years of eagles, nesting? Wow.

Thanks so much for sharing this incredible slideshow of nature's wonderments for us at I'd Rather B Birdin this week. Excellent.

  5. Wonderful sightings and shots of these great birds and animals. I'm praying things settle down here in these United States...soon. Visiting from Mosaic Monday.

  7. Oh Mary, so sad a friendship could breakdown due to differing opinions. My goodness, if we can't speak freely, especially in the company of friends, then it certainly is a scary world out there.

Your beautiful collection of January photos illustrate so well the goings on of your landscape. From the deer to the bald eagles and the Grey Squirrel to the Northern Harrier, Tingsgrove is alive with wintry wonder! But it is your new profile pic that makes me smile most! Have a lovely time with your daughter and son-in-law and safe travels, my friend!

    Hugs,

  8. Hi Mary. Like you we have had little snow - not a single flake here. Just snowflakes but that's another story. So sad to hear that you lost a friend through the election. There is no need for that, at least for grown adults. We live in very divisive times and that is what the enemies of our western lifestyle and culture want. Talking of which, and once again, your love aand appreciation of the beauty of the natural environment shines through your words and your photos.

Take care of that dodgy knee. Us old crocs have to stick together.

  9. Hello Mary! You have such a wonderful place to live. And amazing nature to observe/admire daily. I love all the aspects, the trees, the paths and very different fauna.
I enjoyed the walk and I had the feeling that I'm in the forrest.
Thank you for the all lovely pictures shared and have a nice day and week!

  10. It is all so beautiful Mary -- I hope you have winged your way successfully to sunny Florida by now and that you are having a wonderful time with your dear daughter.

There are many people here in our RV resort who have totally opposite political views from me and I am not used to that, but I have learned that people can be good anyway . I read that it is good for your brain to have at least one friend who has completely opposite political views from yours (and with whom you can discuss the issues without fear). I am not one to argue, so I simply change the subject usually just saying, we have to agree to disagree.
