Cherish is my favorite word, and I cherish the ability of turning the routine into a beautiful moment.
Nature creates in me, a spiritual and meditative time to bring peace, harmony and balance, into an otherwise ordinary day~

Too Much Yard Damage From Nature~

I have already shared this on Facebook, as family members and close friends had messaged me both there and by phone, if we had any more damage from the storms that came through night before last.
The good news, with the ground so heavily saturated, we did not lose any more trees.
It is just such an overwhelming task at hand and it has been going on weeks and now the piles of branches and debris that we were waiting to burn, have been washed all over the acreage and must all be dragged back near the area that we had placed them.
I had laid out 28 bags of mulch last season, all washed away.
We had a nice fenced in area for training and exercising the dogs, that is a huge muddy mess, not a blade of grass, or ground cover left.
Top that with the downed trees and my yard that I have known for 34 years, is unrecognizable.  My husby and I are just getting too old for this kind of nature happening...and
Yet, our home is safe, and we are too.
Have a blessed weekend~

  1. Oh Mary, I'm so sorry about the damage to your beautiful property. That is disheartening for sure and so much work to clean up. It's sad when trees get old and can't stand up the high winds and even water that attacks their root systems. You may have to look at other plantings to restore the property. Take care. Hugs. Pam

  4. Oh Dear, Mary Such heartbreak and hard work, after all the love and devotion you have both given to your acreage to see such devastation. It has been a terrible winter for both sides of the Atlantic, we ourselves spared much of the floods wreaked upon the south of England.

Please try not to be too disheartened, all will come good soon and you will be able to enjoy your own piece of Paradise again.

  5. Oh my dear Mary, I am so sorry. But so glad you two -- and your home itself -- are safe. (Not even devastation like this can keep you from making beautiful pictures.)

  6. Hi Mary,

I'm saddened to see this unfortunate damage caused by this latest storm, to your beautiful property. All that work you and your husband had done, just washed away. It must be very painful to see and experience, especially since you've lived on this land for so long and were used to seeing it a certain away, both physically, and in your mind. Hopefully, there'll be no more and you can begin to pick up the pieces, both literally, and figuratively, once and for all.

Your mosaics show the dramatic differences in the landscape, which I hope, will be revived with the same beauty and peace, in time.

    Thanks for sharing, my friend.

    Take care.

  7. I don't envy you the task of putting your garden back into some kind of order but as you say when you prioritise, the most important part of life is intact - each other.

  11. I think the only way to look at this, is to consider it an opportunity to see the woodland recover - and it will. Hope you manage to get some help.
