Year Ending With Raptors~

It is the end of the year and since my blog began with Red-Shouldered Hawks...it seemed fitting to add some of my favorite mosaics of them, as well as some of the Red-tailed Hawks, American Kestrels, and the Cooper's Hawks in one post.
These are not the hawks found on Tingsgrove, but found beyond this 2 acres.
I am always on the look-out for them...
Many people do not care for Birds of Prey, and much of that is based on misinformation.  They have a very difficult life, many more die, than survive their first year and their numbers in many areas of the world are way down.
I believe them to be beautiful, majestic and fascinating and so I close this year with Raptors and bid everyone a very wonderful 2014~

  10. Your images are stunning. We have a hawk we see in the neighborhood and very often sitting on a power line. He is quiet handsome and I do enjoy watching him. I have seen him sitting on our fence occasionally. That’s when I realized just how big he is. Very informative post.

Wishing you a wonderful new year!

  11. I love raptors and these are fantastic photos! Sadly, I don't see hawks very often or if I do they're at a distance. For the first time ever we've had a couple of hawks stalking the feeders in the backyard, but they don't stay long and I haven't taken any decent photos. You are very fortunate to have so many around you. Have a Happy New Year!

  13. I'm so pleased you spoke up for raptors Mary as they have a vital place in the environment, and as you righly say, their numbers in many areas of the world are declining due to man upsetting the balance of nature. Your photos and mosaics do them all great justice and I especially like the kestrel shots where you have captured the finesse and the agility of falcons.

That's a great shot of the Cooper's Hawk standing on the bird table.

Have a Happy and Prosperous New Year and Best Wishes to you and your family from everyone here in Wet and Windy Lancashire.
