Cherish is my favorite word, and I cherish the ability of turning the routine into a beautiful moment.
Nature creates in me, a spiritual and meditative time to bring peace, harmony and balance, into an otherwise ordinary day~

Shades of Yellow and Gold~

Can you believe it...that is Silvie the 8 month old pup-cub on the husby's right and Meaka the 5 1/2 year old to his left.
Silvie already weighs over 71 pounds and Meaka 74 pounds full grown~

*** I am going to at least try and link up to Mosaic Monday and Wild Bird Wednesday...will be on the road for a while and so, it all depends on Internet access.
The weather across the country looks bleak, as well as the SHUTDOWN of our government...what stress this brings our way!

It seems that with family members in need, and having to run errands since the husby began a little kitchen project a while back, that we are always on the go into town.
It does not bother me so much, just have the camera on ready...good to go.
What do you think of the tin barn and old silo...I thought it was wonderful!
Love the rust stains...that gives that barn real character~

The images that I will be sharing, like the one below, were taken last Sunday morning.
This is the Icelandic Horse farm that I often photograph in Prospect.
These hues are all natural, as the sun was rising over a fog covered Lily pond~

Lots of berry bushes ready for the birds to come calling.
I have tons of the Honeysuckle variety here~

Non breeding American Tree Sparrow~

This Gray Squirrel was totally taken by surprise, as he made his way with a Hickory nut toward me.
Once he realized there was "danger' before him...he scampered in the other direction~

I shared this with family and friends on Facebook the other day.
Rudolph the red nosed Chipmunk... ;)
The way the berry was positioned in front of this little chap, that was all that I could think of~

Mallard Ducks preening at Long Run Park, at sunrise~

American Goldfinches collecting Thistle and Cone Flower seeds at Fox Hollow Farm in Prospect.

Wow, a very late clutch.
This image was taken of a young Goldfinch being fed by parent, just the other day~

Every year this time, we can be walking on our property and come across one of these beautiful Box Turtles.
This was quite a large male, and he was en route to where he would hibernate this Winter.
If you ever help a turtle out, that may be crossing a road, always point them in the direction they were going.
I have had a pet Box Turtle for a few years now.
One day, she will be released, but not until such time that she would not make such good Raccoon fodder~

  2. Sweet pictures Mary. Love the birds and the squirrels and the box turtle. We still have lots of goldfinches at the feeder each day. I think they might be staying over winter this year. We'll see. Blessings, Pamela

  3. Another of your great posts with so much wonder to see. The golden light on the fog is so romantic looking, love your birds and critters too and the old barn is a beauty, most of ours except the historical ones that were built from rocks gathered from the paddocks, are made of corrugated iron.

  5. The "misty" pictures are just wonderful- like impressionist paintings, Monet perhaps? Did you photoshop them? The Box Turtle is fabulous - what colours. Now I have to Google and find out why they are called "Box" turtles. Enjoy your weekend Mary, and look after those beautiful dogs - I know you will.

    1. Thank you Phil. You are the first person in all of my 1,000 entries to get a reply back on a comment from this method. I do not know if you shall ever see it, or not, but I have finally figured out some setting options. The misty images were all natural...with one click of contrast. No other editing was done~

  18. Beautiful post as always and as always I never know where to start...every picture and every mosaic (and every picture in the mosaics) are perfect. The red-nosed squirrel is an amazing picture...so cute. The golden misty scenes on the horse farm are wonderful.... Your "puppy" has grown so quickly...seems like just yesterday when you first posted about him. I loved the goldfinch baby (late for sure) getting fed... well...I loved the whole post! Thanks for it.

  19. I wanted to thank everyone for their visits and sweet comments. We have traveled 2,000 plus miles so far and the journey continues. We have had constant dead zones and then I end up with so little time, but wanted to check in, even if no one gets to read this comment. I appreciate you. It will be 2 more weeks before we are back home, but I will try and catch up soon~ Hugs from afar~ Mary

  20. Here it is Friday already and I am just getting to peruse the wonderful posts on Wild Bird Wednesday. I always look forward to my visit with you ... your pictures are always wonderful and today is no exception. I love the technique, what ever it is, that you used on the foggy scenes ... very rich and you used the lighting perfectly. Of course all of the birds are wonderful ... even the late Goldfinch chick ... and the parents are still yellow. Ours have tuned to their olive green winter garb already. I love the Box Turtle ... is he a special kind. I don't recall seeing those colors on a box turtle before. Your dogs are beautiful and they look so alert and happy walking with your handsome husband ... that is a really great picture of all three. So you have outdone yourself, as always. You got my Friday off to a great start. Happy travels, Mary.
