Red-Shouldered Hawks Share a Skink~

Female on the left and male on the right~

This nest failed.  I was only able to visit this site on Sunday mornings en route to church, and so I have no idea what may have happened.  My guess would be raccoons~

Sweet fragrance from the Locust tree blossoms, amazing~

  1. How sad for them to loose their little brood. Here we call that tree a False Acacia. Isn't the perfume heavenly?

  2. That's a shame the nest didn't make it! I hate to hear that. Your photos of the adults are fantastic, though! The flowers are gorgeous, too!

  6. Nice shots of the hawk pairing Mary. Shame that the nest failed and its always difficult to know the exact cause of nest failures when there are so many possibilities. I guess you know that racoons are one of the main predators of birds? I am trying to send you some of our rain, or should I say send it back to you because its all coming from across the Atlantic at the at the moment, roughly in the direction of the US. LOL. Hopefully there will be some sunshine tomorrow to get a few pictures.

  7. I better add here, that this is not our nest, not the one of Tingsgrove and Beyond. Our nest thrived this year with 3 that began to fledge 4 weeks ago today. I have been keeping up with each of them and will post for World Bird Wednesday this week.
