Hybrid Sighting, Young Eyas Growing and Kestrel Stirring up Grub~

Some of you that have been following my blog for a while, may remember the beautiful Red-Shouldered/Red-tailed hybrid hawk that I came upon back in February.
Week before last, when traveling back from the VA Hospital in Louisville, I happened to see it.  It was hunting in a construction area along I-71, very near to where I first saw it at the Thurman Hutchins Park.
Last week, I saw it soaring over the park, with a Red-Shouldered Hawk, but the images were really poor, due to very bright sunlight~

The Red-Shouldered Hawks of Tingsgrove and Beyond, this season 9 acres beyond, is moving along very well.
Last week, I thought there may be 3 eyas, and I was correct.
In fact, at one point, it appeared there may be 4, but I have my doubts about that at this point.
It is still difficult to view all 3 at the same time and the nest seems to be getting smaller , as the eyas grow rapidly.
The hen has brought in a few reinforment branches yesterday and today, and she is having difficulty getting a good hold to feed the young ones.
I fear, one, or more may take a tumble, and so I check at the base of the tree 6 times a day now.

In the image below, the male had just delivered a Chipmunk to the hen at the first sunlight of the morning~

The images of the young eyas below, was taken from the backside of the nest tree~

  12. Hi there - wonderful pictures.

In answer to your question posted on a (i think) Scandinavian blog - there are not Coopers or Sharp Shinned Hawks in Europe - the bird on the post is a Sparrow Hawk.

Cheers and I hope you don’t mind me answering a question you put elsewhere (its a small world!)
