Icelandic Horses, Geese, Ducks on a Frosty Sunlit Morning~

Oldham County in Kentucky is where my hometown is located.  One of the wonderful things about our area, are the beautiful varieties in horses.  Since it is KY and horse country USA, we have Thoroughbreds, Saddlebreds, Arabians, to name a few, and we also have the wonderful Icelandic Horses.  Within 12 miles of my front door, are found some leading Arabian horse farms.  Go in an opposite direction the same distance, and you arrive at Gudmar Petursson's Icelandic Horse Farm in Prospect.  Mr. Petursson holds the second highest number of Icelandic Championship titles ever earned with these amazing little horses.  At their KY location, they hold riding lessons, horse training clinics, as well as importing and exporting these fine horses.  Don't let their smaller size fool you, they are absolutely outstanding horses by all standards.

Every time that I ride into Prospect, Goshen and St. Matthews, I drive by their farms and I am always on the look out to take a peek at some of these amazing looking creatures.
The sunlight of the break of dawn was arriving just over the partially frozen pond.  Both Canada Geese and assorted Ducks began their early morning ritual of taking a frigid cold bath, before starting about their day.
It was a glorious early morning and I am so happy to have opportunity to share with each of you.  Hoping that your day is sunlit as well~

  10. Looks like you had a wonderful time with those horses. I can see what you mean about their quality, they look so strong and hardy. I guess they have to be living in Iceland - a bit like us living through the UK weather at the moment.

  20. Oh, how marvelous! It's nice to see those shaggy coats keeping them warm, for it looks mighty cold there. The little brown and white reminds me of my first pony -- Smoky. He was such a darling!

Thanks so much for sharing your talents at MM, Mary. I wish you and your family a joyous new year, filled with love and laughter! xoxo
