Adult Female and a Single Eyas~

The following images were taken in Louisville.  For some of you who may have seen earlier posts taken here, you may remember that this location has a rich abundance of Raptors.  There is a pair of Red-tailed Hawks, Red-shouldered Hawks, Great Horned Owls, Cooper's Hawks, Sharp-shinned Hawks and those are the ones that I know about.

Last year this nest was built by the pair of Red-shouldered Hawks, but they never raised any young that season.  This year the Red-tailed Hawks took it over and made it larger.  For whatever reason there is only a single eyas, and what fun it was to observe.  Just for the record the Red-shouldered Hawk pair has been busy not so far from this site, hopefully raising their own~

  1. How glorious to capture the youngster peeking out over the nest rim and stretching its wings.
