Possible New Nest and Box Turtles Lumbering Along~

Both adult Red-shouldered Hawks have been hanging around the same area for the past couple of days. It has been two weeks today since she last fed the young hatchlings for the last time, and two weeks tomorrow since I had seen them, though I had heard them and watched them soaring very high up in the sky.

I live on a narrow lane and at one end is a dead end and the beginning of the lane is 7 acres from me and runs along a busier two lane road, with much traffic. I can't believe it, and things may change, but the female was seen both yesterday and today beginning to build a nest along the busy road. She had chosen a very large and beautiful Sycamore tree. I am not certain yet if she will set up residency here for sure, as the house is on the market, the lawn people will come any day to mow and weed, as well as the landowners are working on a yard sale... and if that is not enough a pair of Canada geese had set up a nest atop a 3 story house. The female was on top of the roof, making insistent noises for the male to join her, but he just could not get up there, no matter how hard he tried. He even got into the residents swimming pool, paddled around a bit under the watchful eyes of the hawks, and then he would fly upon the top of a small barn shed and then try as he might to lift up and fly to the house top, only to fall to the deck rails below.

Now, will someone please tell me...how on earth if he had indeed gotten to the top where a nest had been built, were any baby goslings expected to get to the ground from 3 stories up...   Thankfully the geese left the nest atop the roof and went on to greener pastures.  As I strolled about my yard, I also came upon two lovely Box Turtles, just lumbering along, slowly, yet surely~
