Bluebells and Nest Making~

Bluebells are so lovely and they are great naturalizing plants.  They are also White-tailed Deer resistant and that is one thing that I always try to look for in the plants that I place out on the two acre grove.  I only wish that they would last longer.

While observing the Red-shouldered female hawk one day last week, this pair of Blue Jays came along and picked up something to use toward their nest building.  The one on the right found it, called to it's mate and then they shared in the taking it to the nest high up in an Oak tree.  You cannot tell a female from a male in the Blue Jay community until the female is actually brooding her eggs and she pulls a small patch of feathers from her chest to line the nest with.  I was especially interested in this nest, because at the time the hawk nest was directly in it's view, and may still return as so.

Then there was this busy little Chipmunk that was collecting leaves to take down into it's Chipmunk tunnel.  This too was quite interesting because it also is in direct view of the hawks...what will be, it will be~
* Note:   The leftover acorns that fell last Autumn and still lie on the ground.  Both the Blue Jays and the Chipmunks will eat them~

  1. The blue bells are almost similar to the canterbury bells that grow in the wild. The photos are so crisp and clear.
