Cherish is my favorite word, and I cherish the ability of turning the routine into a beautiful moment.
Nature creates in me, a spiritual and meditative time to bring peace, harmony and balance, into an otherwise ordinary day~

4 Young Eyases Just About Ready for First Flight~

It has been wild with the "blogger" problems, though they appear to be better today. Then two days without power last week, our phone lines are still on a temporary pole and should be repaired any day, so I am so looking forward to getting back into the swing of things and reviewing your blog posts, for I miss that ever so much~

Yesterday morning, I needed a little TLC for myself and some alone time to just think. Sometimes life just gets that way, and there is nothing better for me than to take some time out in nature to soothe the spirit and it did.

I drove up to the site of the Peregrine Falcons which look to be just days away from their first flight. The 2 young males will go first and then the 2 females, one every other day. There is always risk when these nest boxes sit over water sources, that the young ones may take a plunge. They can swim actually with a very good breast stroke I have been told by Chuck Culp with Wingspan. He has seen them swim from one side of the Ohio River and then back the other way again...poor things get all tuckered out.

Even though I arrived at 7:45 AM, and thought I might catch a feeding, I was too late and the adults were not very active. In one image you can see the male standing guard from a high point on the bridge. Another image shows the female flying away from the male after taking turns at point guard.

I had just about given up on being able to view the fourth young one, when it finally made a brief appearance, before I had to gather my things and return in the direction of home~

  2. That looks a long way up Mary and while its nice to take pictures I think maybe you should stay on the ground rather than climb up fo a closer look. So it was you sent those hail stones over? i think all the wind we had recently was a legacy of tornadoes too, but hopefully the weather will settle down for all of us now and we'll get a summer. Glad you sorted Blogger but a few folk still have problems.
