A Sucker for Swallows~

OK, I must admit, I have a few favorites in the bird world and one of them would be these stunning Tree Swallows. These were taken at Foxhollow Farm in Crestwood, KY.. I have only just known about them in the past couple of years and I really love their sweet faces, gorgeous eyes, the way they fly and collect zillions of insects...yeah!  They are just really a great looking bird and I am charmed~

  1. Hi Mary, You made me get out my NA field guide when i saw those tree swallows nest building in a box, something our Barn Swallows never do, just in buildings. Hope it's stopped raining for the swallows to collect insects.

  2. UGH...one of those BIG questions then, so is this a Tree Swallow, or a Barn Swallow? If you look at the Eastern Bluebird post from last week, not the one beneath this post, that is the exact same nestbox that these Swallows were using just prior to the Bluebirds use~ Hmmmm Phil, Randy, someone, anyone please help me out here...thanks:)Mary

  3. Fine photos of swallows of whatever flavor. Fascinating to watch sweeping the air over the fields.
