Soaken Wet Hunter~

We, here in Kentucky have had large amounts of rain, bringing us to flooding in many parts of the Kentuckiana area. The other day, I had traveled into the "big city" to take my father-in-law out for brunch. It was a steady down pour of rain coming down, when I spotted a Red-tail perched upon a pole at a local bank, which was right at the red light that I had stopped for. Hello hawk in the pouring down rain, what might kinds of images might you bring... I spared a few minutes and got some nice ones when it took off across four lanes of traffic and it was clear that it saw something. Yep, so I too crossed the four lanes of traffic, except, I had to wait on cars and stop lights and enduring rains that required the second setting on the windscreen blades... What was I thinking that I would capture then... The hawk had perched itself on some kind of ugly aluminum utility thingy and was looking down at a tree that sat neatly and snug between two buildings. It hit gears so quickly and down from the ugly pole it flew, with the flight dynamics that always looks so impressive and landed between the two buildings. I dashed out of my car only to see a very happy Gray Squirrel, flicking it's tail and making loud ranting to the wind about how it had survived a Red-tailed hawk attack and at least for that rainy day, it was alive, while I watched the still starving hawk fly off in the distance to a pond of ducks nearby. I was running close to late by then and was also starving...so end of this tale~
