Poison Ivy Berries Are Delicious~

Poison Ivy berries are delicious if you happen to be a songbird, this time a most probably a Yellow-rumped Warbler ( thank you Dominic) though I see no yellow patch on the throat.  I am one of those people that if I get near Poison Ivy, if someone burns it near me, or if my dog happens to walk through it and then I stroke her, I am doomed to an awful lot of miserable itching, infection and sometimes even scaring, so I was glad to allow the Vireo to have at these berries which are also poisonous.  When we first purchased the second acre of Tingsgrove, there were what I termed the "mother" vines to the Poison Ivy that I kid you not, looked like trees themselves, long hairy thick vines that grew heavy up into many of the trees on the grove.  It took me over five years to get rid of the worst of it and sometimes, I will still see new starts and I have to take immediate action.  This Poison Ivy was a couple of acres down the lane, so I do not need to worry about this patch~

  3. Really nice shots of the Yellow-rumped Mary. Isn't it strange how some things are harmful to man yet wild creatures immune?
