What Fun Learning New Birds~

Love it, love it, when I get to view new birds and this was one of many while on recent journey west.  One morning late, our dog needed to be walked and we were out in the middle of the Dakotas and simply stopped along the two lane road.  There was a little waterspill across the lane and I heard ducks making their joyful noises and then I saw a large black bird with a long curved bill rise from the water and begin to fly.  As it flew, a whole gathering of the same rose and they flew back and forth above me and then once we had returned to our car, they landed back in the water.  I learned that they are most usually found around flooded fields and fresh water marshes in the western states~

  3. You are right Mary, it's great learning new birds, putting a name to an unfamiliar face. Spectacular birds you found too.
