One Eyed Blue Jay Fledgling Update~

It has been a most stressful week for me to observe the goings on of this young Blue Jay. A couple of times, I have had to recollect it and let it calm down and then return it once again to the wild. It has spent way too much time on the ground. The little chap can fly from tree to tree and then when it is flying across too much land in between it flies in a spiral downward and then hit's the ground. Yesterday morning I had watched it a while and then came in to eat brunch. When I went back out, much to my horror was the sure sound of Blue Jays being attacked by something. Even though I had my camera in hand, my mind was racing after the young Blue Jay, when up from the ground flew the male adult Red-Shouldered Hawk and it had something in it's talons and the mob of Jays went flying after it.. My heart went racing and needless to say, I was overcome with grief. I stood there for the longest time, when out of my peripheral came a little Blue Jay out from the tall grasses. As I approached it, I saw that the left eye was blinded, my newest little pal had survived it's first encounter with a hawk...~
