Cave Hill Cemetery does not sound like quite the place to put on a nature/wildlife blog, but that is where you would guess wrong. Cave Hill is not only a beautiful historical cemetery, but also a botanical gardens. There are plants and trees that grow there, that do not grow in the surrounding five states as well. The cemetery has many species of song birds, Canada geese, several varieties of ducks, and other varieties geese as well as beautiful swans adorn the lake and ponds at the center of the property. There is a pair of Red-Shouldered Hawks, a pair of Sharp-Shinned Hawks as well as a pair of great-Horned Owls to name a few. They have visiting great Blue Herons, and Night Herons among many other visitors. There are rabbits, raccoons and Opossums as well. It is completely walled in by the most beautiful ivy covered high brick walls and the old iron gates. If you ever journey to Louisville, Kentucky, this would be a visit very much worth your time. You should take a few moments to "google" it, it is an amazing place for many reasons, many famous people are buried here as well...as my husband and I also already have beautiful plots purchased for one day...hopefully many moons away from this day. Hoping that you shall enjoy this entry~
