You know when spring is upon us when~

You know here in the land where we live, that spring is upon us, and gaining in closer, as the Chipmunks begin to awaken from their winter resting place. They do not actually hibernate, but when the temperatures are really freezing they do go into a deeper sleep. As I was sitting at my window today, daydreaming of warmer weather and flowers blooming, there they were two little Chipmunks (ground squirrels some would call them) gathering about every little seed they could stuff into their mouth pouches. They are quite cute, yet they do get themselves into quite a bit of trouble in the flower garden, especially liking my bulbs and tubers... ~

  1. It looks like they have been feeding well in their deep sleep. Both their cheeks and bellies look full. Great pictures.

  2. Hi Mary. Just caught up with your recent posts and hope you are feeling better.
I think the Chipmunks have a similar appetite for bulbs as the Squirrels over here but a search today revealed that some of the Crocus have not been eaten!
Loved the pics of the Carolina Wren..what a beauty. FAB.
