Cherish is my favorite word, and I cherish the ability of turning the routine into a beautiful moment.
Nature creates in me, a spiritual and meditative time to bring peace, harmony and balance, into an otherwise ordinary day~

The male then decided quite abruptly to stop her thoughts of having her meal and flew to have some attention, when he quite by accident, knocked his mate off of her perch~

OK, so this was not one of those perfect date days for the pair, however, she did forgive him in the end. The great hunter had once again brought his fair maiden a meal, but she was not happy with where he had placed it, so she took it to another perch. The male then decided quite abruptly to stop her thoughts of having her meal and flew to have some attention, when he quite by accident, knocked his mate off of her perch. She was able to hold on to her meal, and some of her dignity, but had to fight to make her way back to the perch where he stood helplessly by, waiting for his "gift"... I felt so bad for the female, for he was relentless with his one goal and yet, she did give in and I was very proud of how well she handled the entire embarrassing situation. After finishing her meal on her perch, she was happy and flew back to her nest some five acres from our grove.  On the positive note, the nest is most assuredly going to be used in same tree as last year, for my good friend Judy rang me up today to let me know that the female was most assuredly overseeing her new little home.

*Note...I do think in the fourth from the bottom photograph that the male was tenderly looking at his fair maiden and seemed truly sorry for knocking her off of her feet~

  1. Mary, I love the saga as the story unfolds and their warm and beautiful color.

He had better make it up to her. What is the saying, "if mommas not happy, nobody's happy". lol

Have a wonderful weekend. I'll be elbow deep in vegetable seeds. Diana

  2. Men sometimes are bullies, but most the time they are kind and considerate. Your hawk saga is a lot like my sagegrouse one. I will post about them when they are on their breeding grounds in April. I love your posts. Great pictures and great writing.
